Happy Thanksgiving from LS Tutors

This is always such a wonderful time of year to reflect on what we are thankful for and to spend quality time together as a family.  As you gather with loved ones this Thanksgiving, make it a point to disconnect electronics and connect with one another. Here are some fun conversation starters for children and parents to use this holiday.

For Parents to Ask Kids (Of All Ages)

  • Who is the funniest person at the table and why?
  • Pretend you just won $5 million. What is one cause you would donate to? One purchase you would make?
  • What do you think is the hardest thing about being a parent?
  • What are you most thankful for this year? (You knew it was coming.)
  • Who are you most like (at your gathering) and who are you most different from?
  • If we could vacation anywhere, where would you want the family to go and what would we do?
  • What is your favorite Thanksgiving food?  Least favorite?  What would happen if we mixed some foods? Would you try “Cranberry Mashed potatoes” “Green Bean pie”?

For Kids to Ask Parents

  • If you could have named yourself, what name would you have picked?
  • What do you think is the hardest thing about being a kid?
  • What about me is the most (and least) like you?
  • If you could eat only one food on this table for an entire year, which one would it be?
  • What is your favorite memory from when I was a baby?
  • What was the most adventurous activity you did before having kids?
  • What are you thankful for this year? (Again, an obvious!)
  • Which person from history (famous or relative) would you like to have at our Thanksgiving and why?

happy thanksgiving
